Support for Unified Messaging and Exchange Server 2007
Exiis Corporation offers help and support for businesses and organizations that are considering utilizing the Unified Messaging option in Exchange 2007. Unified messaging is the ability for Exchange 2007 to provide a centralized repository for telephone voice messages, email, and faxes. This new component allows users to check for messages from within their Outlook client without having to phone into the company’s main telecom system. Unified messaging support and integration is occurring throughout other Microsoft products as well, such as Microsoft Office Communications Server (Instant Messaging) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server components.

Unified Messaging components are complex and require resources from many disciplines to ensure they co-exist in a harmonious fashion. Many organizations do not have internal resources to address the complexities involved and will oftentimes outsource to a company that has the necessary expertise on hand to address conflicts in application and functional needs. Exiis Corporation, a Microsoft Certified Partner, has access to the necessary resources and subject-matter-experts (SMEs) to assist outside organizations in providing a completely functional and efficient Unified Messaging environment based on Microsoft Products and Technologies.

Messaging Bifurcation
The Hub Transport server is responsible for delivery of all messages routed throughout the organization; this includes internal delivery of messages to Mailbox servers as well as external delivery to remote or external organizations. Because Exchange Server 2007 is aware of the internal Active Directory sites and services, internal routing of email messages are addressed completely differently than those destined to external organizations. Messages destined to external organizations must pass through and be examined by the local Hub Transport server, which examines rules, applies actions to those rules, and makes a determination on how to act on those rules. Once messaging rules are applied and accepted, the Hub Transport server then passes the message to the organizations Edge Transport server for external delivery.

The role of the Hub Transport server cannot be under-estimated when it comes to delivery of messages. The Hub Transport server understands the architecture and network sites and site links; a message destined for more than a single, internal recipient is examined in great detail before the final message is delivered to the external organization. Should any of the rules applied to a message fail, the Hub Transport server will delay bifurcation of the message until the last possible hop.

Hub Transport Server Policy Compliance
There are many levels of applying regulatory compliance features to an Exchange 2007 server environment. Although many organizations are not required to comply with local and federal email policy regulations, Exiis Corporation recommends they do so for current and future compliancy purposes. For example, let’s assume a new regulatory compliance law presents itself that all business and organizations must maintain a 1-year retention policy of all their emails. At that time, organizations and companies not ready or positioned for compliance will have a difficult time placing these requirements into effect. With Exiis Corporation, your system is completely prepared for these changes and can be quickly adopted to meet the new requirements.
